At NOMAD, Golsa presents an installation by the Swiss artist Yves Scherer and furniture by the Norwegian architect and designer Henrik Ødegaard. Both of them have created new works for the occasion. Scherer exhibits two new lenticular prints together with a sculpture, while Ødegaard has created a table set with four chairs.
Yves Scherer
(b. 1987) is a Swiss artist based in New York. Scherer deals with questions regarding gender, celebrity, and mediated realities. Mainly working in sculpture and installation he creates immersive environments that combine personal narratives with fan fiction to offer the viewer an often romantic lens or perspective on the self, relationships and the everyday.
Scherer holds an MA in Sculpture at the Royal College of Art London. His work has been shown internationally in galleries and institutions like the ICA London, Kunsthalle Basel and the Swiss Institute in New York, and has recently been subject to a survey at Kunsthaus Grenchen in 2020.
He has been the recipient of a Förderpreis Bildende Kunst des Kanton Solothurn 2012, Swiss Art Award in 2015 and was listed on Forbes 30 under 30 “Art & Design” in the class of 2016.
Henrik Ødegaard is a Norwegian architect and designer based in Oslo, Norway. Known for his furniture made out of pine, and materials that he has available from previous projects. The wooden furniture is often lacquered in colors with a perfect finish.
He studied graphic design at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, and architecture at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design before founding Grig Arkitekter with Tron Meyer, carrying out a number of projects within architecture and design. Together with Tron Meyer and Richard Øiestad he created the design collective named Pyton, which later expanded to an exhibition platform where they exhibit artists that work within the field of art and design.
